History of Sri Mahalaxmi Temple

The founder of The Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust, Shri Bansilalji and his wife Sushila Devi, founded the Sri Mahalaxmi Temple in 1984. Sushila Devi had immense faith in social and religious activities. And it was mainly her dream to turn their own bungalow in Sarasbaug into a temple.

It took almost 12 years to turn her dream into a reality. The entire temple was built under the expert guidance of famous sculptor Hemraj Sompura of Sumerpurand. The Sri Mahalaxmi Temple is dedicated to three Goddesses- Mahalaxmi, Mahakali, and Maha Saraswati.

Architecture of Sri Mahalaxmi Temple

The architecture of Sri Mahalaxmi Temple represents the Dravidian style. The Shikhar (spire) of the temple is around 55 feet tall and 24 feet wide. The roof of the temple is approximately 54 feet long. This architecturally picturesque temple has a grand entrance that is elaborately carved. The entire temple is made of white marble that gives a pious and serene feeling.

The pillar and walls inside the Mahalaxmi Temple have also been carved with beautiful patterns that enhance its grandeur. On the temple walls, you can also witness pictures of various saints carved skillfully. Some of these saints are Tukaram, Tulsidas, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Jalaram, Guru Nanak, Mirabai, Kabir Das, and many more. Devotees of the temple offer their tribute to the saints by circumambulating around it.

The sacred sculptures of Goddess Maha Laxmi, Maha Kali, and Maha Saraswati are 6 feet tall. And these sculptures are made of pristine marble.
